Fujifilm India Moves into Endoscopy Segment

The Imaging and Photography Company of Japan, Fujifilm has entered in the endoscopy segment. A top company official said that the company is expected to contribute around 10 percent of its total medical business in India in the FY 2018-2019.

Fujifilm India would continue to grow its business in the endoscopy segment with the expansion of its association with various medical centers and line-ups to strengthen its hold over the medical business. These strategies are being implemented as the company aims for achieving a double-digit growth in the coming year, said the company.

As stated by the Managing Director of Fujifilm India, Haruto Iwata, ten percent of the total medical business of Fujifilm India is anticipated to be contributed by the endoscopy segment this financial year. Fujifilm India registered a revenue of 1,1oo crore in FY 2017-18, of which medical business was a key contributor. Haruto Iwata further added that around 50 percent of the total income was produced by Fujifilm’s medical business.

Being one of the most common cancers in Asia, stomach cancer is symptoms and sign are often reported late when the disease is already in advanced stages. On account of this scenario, Fujifilm India Pvt. Ltd. introduced DELUXE 7000 series to increase the probability of early treatment by early detection of gastrointestinal cancer.

The introduction of this product further strengthens their contribution to the valued healthcare for people in India through their innovative technologies. They aim to continue to provide their clinically proven products and technologies to provide a complete healthcare solution to help medical professionals perform more effectively and efficiently for the improved medical service for the patients, said Mr. Iwata.

India is a Rs 300 crore market for medical endoscopy, with players such as Olympus, Pentax and others operating in the market. With their new product, the company aims to hold a major place in the market. Haruto Iwata said that this move would help the company is strengthening their foothold in the medical line in India.

Being a leading player in the diagnostic imaging space, the company addresses a range of products including digital radiography, computed radiography, film and screen, point-of-care testing products and endoscopy, Fujifilm India is looking forward to expanding rapidly in the endoscopy market in India.
