Mobile phones and similar products will now be available with insurance, on Flipkart. Just ahead of the Big Billion Days annual sale to be started on Flipkart from October 10, the e-tailer announced its collaboration with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, on Sunday. With this deal, Flipkart is foraying into the mobile insurance space and looking forward to offering insurance services to electronic products such as mobile phones that are purchased on Flipkart’s online shopping platform on and post-October 10.
The authorities of the Bengaluru-based online retail giant confirm that the e-retailing company aims to empower its Complete Mobile Protection (CMP) programme and will provide a range of customized insurance solutions to all the leading mobile brands selling mobile phones on the online platform. From October 10, the company, in partnership with Bajaj Allianz, will offer options such as a free pickup or cash payouts, in addition to service and drop convenience to mobile phone customers. Valid for a year, the insurance cover will reportedly include liquid, screen, and accidental phone damage, in addition to the theft of protected phone devices.
“Flipkart has always been keeping the customer at the center and being a market leader in e-tailing of electronic products, we now make our next move with providing an excellent range of after-sales service to customers. By offering the best and customized insurance solutions for mobile phones bought on Flipkart, we look forward to reaching a new level of success in the line of our customer-first policy,” stated Ravi Garikipati, Senior VP and Head, Fintech, Flipkart, on Sunday. He further added, “Flipkart’s online platform will include the end-to-end integrated plan regarding this mobile phone insurance – from purchase to claim”.
Bajaj Allianz on the other side has always been concentrating on exploring new sets of avenues for customers and supporting them throughout the insurance journey, at each step. “Bajaj Allianz teaming up with Flipkart is a promising sign that we are heading towards our business objective in the right direction and this deal that proposes a strong CMP programme especially for mobile phones bought on Flipkart will add more value to Flipkart’s millions of customers, through the category that the e-tailer leads in,” said Tapan Singhel, MD & CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance.
Earlier in May, Walmart acquired a massive stake of Flipkart, and now, the latter obtained the corporate agent license from the insurance leader – Bajaj Allianz. Flipkart is now strengthening its portfolio of offerings by entering the after-sales service space, with insurance solutions. With this, Flipkart is entering the US$ 27 billion mobile insurance market in India.
